The Magnificent St. Paul’s Cathedral

St. Paul's Cathedral is located on Ludgate Hill, and is a familiar landmark to all Londoners. For over 1400 years Ludgate Hill has been a place where people come to worship. The present Cathedral was completed only in 1707 as the Great Fire in 1666 ruined the previous Cathedral. Therefore the Cathedral that people worship today is believed to be the fifth at Ludgate Hill and it's of Anglican faith. This building is of great pride to all Londoners. It is famous for surviving the Blitz in the 1940's.The Royal family uses it for its various functions. The Cathedral is famous for the most celebrated wedding of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diane. It is also famous for the funeral services of Winston Churchill, Lord Nelson, the duke of Wellington. Its first service was in 1697. The architect of this magnificent masterpiece is Sir Christopher Wren.
Even though the Cathedral is famous for its impressive interior which is breathtaking it is also famous for the splendid view it has from climbing the dome. It is said that the view of London from top of the dome is unparallel to any other. The crypt at St Paul's Cathedral has many famous people buried there, the Duke of Wellington and Admiral Nelson to name a few, and there are memorials of 300 military demigods, the lady with the lamp - Florence Nightingale, Lord Kitchener and many more great people. Outside the cathedral is a monument which honors 32,000 killed and 50,000 badly injured civilians who protected the Cathedral during the 2nd World War.
